City of Corning Comprehensive Plan Link 24053 - Adams Co & Corning Comprehensive Plan 2025-09-29 City of Corning Seeks Residential Construction Contractors The City of Corning seeks bids on multiple single-family residential rehabilitation projects in the city. The projects will be funded in part with federal dollars. Each project (house) will be bid and awarded individually to the lowest responsive and responsible bidders. Bidders must provide proof of insurance, registration with Iowa’s Contractor Registry, and lead paint certification should they receive the best bid. We intend to accept bids on eight homes. A voluntary contractor walkthrough is planned for 9 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2026, starting at City Hall, 601 6th Street, Corning, Iowa 50841. At precisely 9 AM, we will proceed to the first home. At each walkthrough, we will point out the work in the bid package and give bidders a chance to ask questions about the project and the expectations. Bids will be due at 2 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the office of the Southern Iowa Council of Governments, 101 E. Montgomery, Creston, Iowa 50801. They can be hand delivered, sent via mail, fax at 641-782-8492, or emailed to rounds@sicog.com. Incomplete and late bids will not be accepted. Bids will be read aloud at SICOG’s office, and all bidders will be notified of the results. Construction work will begin this spring and end by early fall 2026. Contractors can bid on one or multiple projects. The City of Corning reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. This project is subject to Build America, Buy America Act requirements. This means that materials used in the project must have been produced, manufactured, or assembled in the United States. The City of Corning Affirmatively Furthers Fair Housing and this program is compliant with the Fair Housing Act. Applications for Aquatic Center can be found under the Department tab, Aquatic Center. Residential Garbage pick up every Tuesday! Residents can place one bulk item every week in addition to what is in their garbage tote. Items that can be safely handled by 1 person and having a loaded weight not to exceed 40 lbs. A bulk item should fall within the following guidelines: "furniture, bicycles, windows, doors, etc. Bulk items would not include any waste generated by a household business, construction or demolition debris, concrete, brick, asphalt, roofing, parts of vehicles, or hazardous waste. Appliances DO NOT qualify and must have an appliance sticker which can be purchased at City Hall for $40. Recycling Every Other Wednesday. The City of Corning supports fair housing practices.
