City of Corning to Offer Assistance for Homeowners and Landlords to Renovate Older Homes (See Applications which include the map below)

The City of Corning announces the availability of approximately $32,000 in forgivable loan funds to six homeowners and three landlords to renovate older homes in a neighborhood of Corning identified in the map (shown on applications - see below). A forgivable loan is a grant with the condition that the owner continues to own the property three years following renovations.

Renovations will focus on the exterior of the home, although interior renovations will be done to correct lead paint hazards and radon, if identified in the property.

If you have a residential property inside of the project area as identified on the map, in need of repair and feel you might qualify, an application form and informational sheet are available at the Corning city website (cityofcorningia.com), and the Corning Facebook page (corning cityhall) or by contacting Jeremy Rounds at SICOG. In the next week, our contractor overseeing this project, Southern Iowa Council of Governments of Creston, will send a letter with project information to qualified properties in the project area.

Information can be obtained by calling Jeremy Rounds of SICOG at 641-782-8491 or emailing rounds@sicog.com.

The City of Corning and SICOG comply with Fair Housing Law and seek to affirmatively further Fair Housing.
